About

The Nature Conservancy has been working in Hawaiʻi for more than 40 years. Originally we focused on protecting endangered forest birds and rare natural communities, but have broadened our focus to native forests, intact ecosystems, and watersheds. For the last 20 years we have been working with more than 70 local communities around the state to conserve Hawaii's marine resources. At Palmyra Atoll, we identify factors that keep coral reefs healthy and share best practices with ocean managers and users around the world.
