One World through cooperative finance. The Credit Unions of Maui and Lanai proudly celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day®, a global tradition that unites us all through the power of cooperative finance. Since 1948, ICU Day has honored the rich history and achievements of credit unions worldwide, recognizing their dedication to providing financial solutions that strengthen communities. As we embrace this year's theme, One World Through Cooperative Finance, the credit unions of Maui and Lanai reflect on the inspiring ways they have brought people together, created opportunities, and fostered resilience. In the wake of the Maui wildfires, our Maui credit unions stepped up to support the community in times of crisis by: Providing emergency relief loans and financial assistance to families affected by the fires Waiving fees and deferring payments for impacted members Supporting wildfire relief efforts by partnering with local organizations to distribute aid and resources Investing in community rebuilding efforts to help Maui rise stronger Throughout Maui County, our credit unions have made a profound impact by empowering families with affordable home and auto financing, investing in community education, and supporting local charities. Most recently, the Credit Unions of Maui, with the help of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, made a $300,000 donation to HomeAid Hawaii to provide safe and stable housing for those displaced by the Lahaina fires. Additionally, the coalition of credit unions raised $38,000 for Hospice Maui from its Annual Charity Golf Tournament, along with hosting the following initiatives: Clothing, school supply, and toy drives Credit and financial counseling Financial literacy programs online and through the Zogo app Financial wellness seminars Free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Beach and garden clean-ups Higher education scholarships Financial education in high schools: Baldwin, Hana, King Kekaulike, Lahainaluna, Maui, Molokai Organizations supported include the Alzheimer's Association, Binhi At Ani, Feed My Sheep, Grow Some Good, Hale Mahaolu, Hospice Maui, J.W.
